Les étudiants inscrits dans les université françaises en 2016-2017 (lun., 08 janv. 2018)
En 2016-2017, 1 623 500 étudiants sont inscrits dans les universités de France métropolitaine et des DOM. Ils étaient 1 593 200 en 2015-2016. Les effectifs augmentent de 1,9 %. En particulier, les effectifs sont en hausse en cursus licence (+ 2,8 %) et en cursus master (+ 0,8 %), mais diminuent en cursus doctorat (- 2,3 %). Le nombre de nouveaux bacheliers s’inscrivant à l’université continue à croître (+ 3,1 %) mais les inscriptions parallèles des étudiants de C.P.G.E. expliquent plus de la moitié de cette hausse, qui s’élève à + 1,8 % sans ces inscriptions. Le nombre d’étudiants est également en légère hausse dans les I.U.T. (+0,3 %). Les bacheliers généraux sont toujours plus nombreux dans les disciplines générales (+3,8 % hors inscriptions en C.P.G.E.), le nombre de nouveaux bacheliers technologiques augmente en I.U.T. (+1,8 %) et les bacheliers professionnels se dirigent nettement moins vers l’université (-2,7 %). La part des étudiants étrangers à l’université est stable : ils représentent 14,2 % des inscriptions.

Les effectifs d'étudiants dans le supérieur en 2016-2017 en forte progression (ven., 29 déc. 2017)
Les inscriptions d’étudiants dans l’enseignement supérieur en France métropolitaine et dans les départements d’outre-mer ont atteint 2 609 700 en 2016-2017. Leur nombre a fortement progressé par rapport à l’année précédente (+ 2,3 %, soit 58 900 inscriptions de plus). La hausse est en partie liée à un accroissement des doubles inscriptions des étudiants en classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles à l’université : hors ces doubles inscriptions, l’augmentation globale est de 1,8 % sur un an (+ 44 800 inscriptions). En 5 ans, l’enseignement supérieur a accueilli 225 000 étudiants supplémentaires. L’augmentation des effectifs est élevée pour les formations d’ingénieur ainsi que les écoles de commerce, gestion et comptabilité. Les formations courtes (en instituts universitaires de technologie et sections de techniciens supérieurs) et les classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles enregistrent une légère hausse de leurs effectifs. En 2016-2017, les inscriptions augmentent dans toutes les académies sauf à Aix-Marseille, en Martinique et en Guadeloupe. L’enseignement privé rassemble 18,2 % des étudiants.
